When I'm not at work, there's always something that has my interest. Mostly, I'm involved playing the trumpet in some sort of setting. One can find me playing at church, in the JumpStreet Swing Band, and the North Oakland Concert Band. I'm also involved in the inaguraul season of a British-style brass band, the Oakland Brass Band and occasionally sub in Tom Alport's Band.
Since I'm a programmer at heart, I continue to write programs for my own use that help me keep my technical skills relevant and try out ever changing techology.
I grew up with my Mom and sister owning horses. My son Michael, loves these majestic animals and has become a good rider. We have fun occasionally going to the track togetherr. Horse racing is one of those things that I've applied my programming skills to. Serious handicappers have developed many "angles" over the years and I've incorporated many of them into a decision analysis resolution technique that reads Daily Racing Form data and converts them into easily readable "marked up" Excel spreadsheets.
I got involved in mountain biking at the prompting of my son, David, as a way he and I could share some time together. Since we started, I've upgraded my bike and have joined Team GM to help raise funds to fight Multiple Sclerosis - a disease that eventually claimed my uncle George Nacy. I'm hooked on single track trail riding at Michigan State Parks. It's a great way to get fit and see God's creation up close. Sometimes too close!
I got started in digital video editing almost 10 years ago. I've been part of the evolution from very finicky and expensive computer-based editing systems to today's sophisticated and affordable technology.
Billiards has joined Guitar Hero as a Nacy favorite pasttime. I recently had an unbelievably good experience in purchasing a furniture grade solid oak 8' table on eBay. |
